R-APA
Adaptive Process Assurance for Aerospace Drilling
R-APA is a retrofit measurement and AI research prototype for high-value aerospace machining. Its first use case focuses on drilling carbon-fibre-reinforced polymer (CFRP) and related aerospace material stacks.
Progressive tool degradation creates a costly trade-off between replacing a usable tool too early and continuing until machining quality begins to deteriorate.
- First use case
- CFRP and related aerospace material stacks
- Designed for
- Aerospace machining and manufacturing teams
- Spindle power or current
- Vibration sensing
- Available CNC process data
Examine whether the same measurements show a sufficiently reliable relationship with measured hole-quality outcomes to justify a later quality-risk model.
How innovation moves
